Sub Surface North East was founded in 1990 and is based in Ossett, West Yorkshire. Dave Simpson (Director of Sub Surface North East Ltd) will design a site specific Site Investigation to determine the ground conditions, to meet the Client’s requirements and, where necessary, to satisfy the various regulatory requirements of Local Authority Planning, Environmental Health and Building Control Departments, the Environment Agency and property transactions.

Large areas in the North East of England (such as Yorkshire and Newcastle upon Tyne) are situated within coal mining areas. Sub Surface North East are Site Investigation specialists, and are highly experienced in investigating sites which may be affected by coal mining in the past. Our services within a coal mining area generally begin with a Desk Studies including a Coal Authority Mining Report and possible Coal Mining Risk Assessment, leading to rotary drilling (where necessary) to identify shallow coal seams and mine shafts, etc., followed by an Interpretative report with appropriate recommendations (drilling and grouting, raft foundations, etc.) to ensure a safe and economic development.
